Each and every contribution made to Penn State has created the legends that have impacted our world’s culture to the greatest extent.
The Pennsylvania State University was established in the year of 1855; it became the state of Pennsylvania’s most influential institution for graduate research, the academia, and undergraduate studies with a total of 24 campuses across the state, the main campus being the University Park campus located at the center of Pennsylvania in State College. State College is also known as the “Happy Valley,” as it is one of the safest metropolitan areas in the country. With basic living amenities, food, and entertainment available within walking and busing distance from campus, Penn State is the perfect environment for the brewing of happy and studious learners.
WE ARE a happy family! According to U.S. News’s rankings, Penn State sits amongst the top 50 schools in the United States and is often referred to as the Ivy League of public schools. Penn State has 19 different academic colleges. Providing a wide range of courses from various fields, it is a well-rounded university that fulfills the intellectual needs of all sorts of students. In addition to its academics, Penn State also provides a culture appreciative of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Football, in particular, holds a long history at Penn State and is celebrated greatly amongst students.
Not only do the students spend their time at Penn State studying and preparing for coursework, they also have fun and fulfilling lives outside of the classroom. On Friday nights, the HUB-Robeson Center, also known as the student “HUB,” holds late night events including crafts, music, fun games, and movies. Late Night provides opportunities for students to take a break from their studies and get to know other students on campus. For students that want to study hard, the libraries on campus are generally open everyday from 7:45 A.M. until 12:00 A.M. Each residence hall area has its own commons building containing postal services, a recreation area, a computer lab, a convenient store, and a dining hall. Penn State also provides many sports facilities for students to use; the facilities include fitness rooms, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, an ice arena, swimming pools, and more.
